Indian Neck Ave. 2nd alarm

Branford Fire Department responded to this multi-family home at 10:39 this morning for a reported building fire. All five occupants of the four apartments managed to escape harm unfortunately however, a dog and cat perished. Branford was assisted by Guilford Fire Department at the scene and North Branford Fire Department who provided cover.

WTC PATH Car

August 6th 2015, Members of the Branford Fire Department - Local 2533, East Haven Fire Department & the New York City Fire Department's honor guards including New Haven Emerald Society and the F.D.N.Y. Pipe band as well as many other volunteers and delegates welcomed PATH car 745 into its new home at the East Haven Trolley Museum.

Bailout Bag Training.

May 2015, some members of the Local 2533 were selected to participate in a train the trainer program for the newly purchased bail out kits. Members from Branford Fire were given some classroom instruction as well as in depth hands on training on how to utilize these lifesaving pieces of equipment from some members of Stratford Fire Dept.

On May 4, 2015 at @ 3:15 p.m. the Branford Fire Department was dispatched to Sound view Heights for a reported structure fire. Engines 1,2,9 Rescue 1, Truck 1, Medic 1, Car 6 as the incident commander. Car 2 arrived first on scene to report smoke showing from the attic area.

Fatal Accident I-95

On April 30th at 6:00a.m. Units C6,E1,R1,M1&M2 were dispatched to an motor vehicle accident on I-95 n\b. Units on scene found a head on accident involving a mini van and a pick up truck. Extrication was required (using HURST cutters, spreaders, & rams) One patient was found to be d.o.a. but M1 & M2 transported 2 other occupants.

2 Livonia Churchill freshmen in stolen Mustang killed in crash

Two Livonia Churchill High School freshmen boys were killed  Saturday in Plymouth Township after the stolen Ford Mustang they were in hit a minivan, rolled over and burst into flames, police said. The Wayne County Medical Examiner's Office confirmed the teens' ages as 14 and 15 but didn't release their names Sunday afternoon.

Sign up now to celebrate the holiday season with us as we march in Norfolk's Grand Illumination Parade on Saturday, November 19th (C-shift). Specific meeting time is not set yet, but attendees should expect to be in Norfolk around 4pm or meet at training to car pool in the training van between 2-3pm. The parade ends around 10pm. More info will be announced in the beginning of November.

LELAND GAYHEART PREVENTION AWARD

Apply now for the annual Gayheart Prevention Award! All nominations for the 2016 Leland Gayheart Award must be postmarked by September 30, 2016.  Leland Gayheart was a 23 year old firefighter that lost his life due to a devastating burn injury in 1991. As a tribute, the Leland Gayheart Prevention Award was created to encourage prevention programs within local fire departments.
